My new essay for SexIs went live this afternoon. It’s called All in the Family and it’s about an afternoon spent protesting the Westboro Baptist Church.
After standing around for half an hour, someone said: “They’re here.” We all looked down the street. The anticipation was strange. The Westboro Baptist Church, after all, are almost celebrities, if there are celebrity hate-mongers. This was kind of a big moment for me, like seeing Pat Robertson or Mel Gibson in person. Still, we knew that Fred Phelps himself wouldn’t be present. Apparently his age keeps him from hitting the streets as often as he used to.
You can read the entire article over at SexIs.

Like the rest of the internet (re: world) I’m going to take a few days off from blogging. I’m going with my partner to visit his family out of state (TN, here we come). I may be on Twitter if I get a chance, or you might find me around Facebook, but I don’t see myself blogging. Looking up nudie pictures while you’re staying at your not-really-father-in-law’s house isn’t really cool. If you miss me, click on a link to the right and read one of my stories again. Come on, you know which one is your favorite. Read that one, and slip your hand into your pants.
If you haven’t read any of them: read all of them.
I should have a new essay on Sexis this week, and if it goes up I’ll swing by to post about it.
I’ll be back on Monday, the 28th. I have something cool to show off next week that I’m excited about, so there’s always that to look forward.
I hope you all have a happy holiday, however you celebrate it. And even if you don’t.
I leave you with this photo by Rainer Fetter that Slava Mogutin posted last week. It is fucking hot and sweet and tender and beautiful and all of the things I love about photography, love, and men:

I’m not a big fan of Christmas but I’m a huge fan of Haikal Noyes. Noyes provides me with the perfect excuse to show off some more of his photography though with this timely, holiday-themed (and extremely sexy) desktop image:

(click on the image above to choose the wallpaper size of your choice.)
Noyes is on the final leg of his 365 Days project, where he takes a new (often nude) photo of himself each day. From the project’s beginning, Noyes has been knocking out beautiful, sexy, and often experimental photography. It’s interesting to watch him learn and grow as a photographer, and I always look forward to each days’ photo.

I’ll be sad to see the project wrap up when it does. Until then, you can see more of his work here.

Erotic fiction writer (and all around nice guy) Natty Soltesz has a new website/blog that you guys should check out. You can find it at:

All of these projects have been a blast, but in the end I always come back to the Nifty Archive and this website. As long as I’m interested in writing erotica, I feel I’ll be invested in both of these outlets. What they don’t offer in monetary benefits is made up for with an enthusiastic, responsive readership and a non-judgemental, democratic, anything-goes nature.
They help to remind me that I started writing for one reason only: to give myself a boner. And though I enjoy trying different things and taking my writing to different areas, there’s a lot to be said for writing purely for one’s own enjoyment. I like what I write. Maybe you like it too.
Natty’s an inspiration to me as a writer, and he’s always good for a dirty story. Some of my favorites are “Hippie Crack,” “Perfect Day,” and “All-U-Can-Eat.” Make sure you check out his stories page, where you can select stories by theme or content, like “rimming,” “underwear,” and “straight(ish) guys.” (I’m definitely stealing that feature of his site when I redesign my own.)

I read this story the other day over at The Outlet, the blog for Electric Literature.

It’s called El Camino Real, by Jason Stout:
In 1979, when I’m eight years old, my dad, drunk out of his gourd on Schlitz and high on crank, runs over some guy with his brand new El Camino. I don’t know this when I’m eight. I just think his car is cool. It’s cherry-red with a huge, white vector stripe and vaguely resembles the Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch. He drives it as he leaves town and us later that year.
Read the rest: El Camino Real.

Filmmaker Travis Mathews is continuing to film new segments for his fantastic video series “In Their Room.” I wrote about the original film, a series of interviews with readers of Butt Magazine, back in August, and I’m really happy to see Mathews continue the series.

Slava Mogutin posted outtakes yesterday from his photo shoot with his partner, Brian Kenny, for Butt Magazine’s 2010 calendar. There’s so many things I love in these pictures: Kenny, bikes, and dogs:

I’ve written about my love for both Kenny and Mogutin before, and I love any chance to post pictures of or by them. I thought I’d throw in some pictures that Kenny illustrated. I don’t know that I’ve ever posted any before, and that’s a major oversight:

Hope everyone has a good morning.

Posting might be a little erratic through the end of the year. Or not. These things remain to be seen. The final stretch of work on the first issue of Crash Course is rushing in, and the book should be out early 2010. I have another essay to write for SexIs, as well, so I have my hands full for the time being.
Anyway, I thought I would throw some things at you that I’ve been digging, lately:
First is this pic of Shaggy by artist Chris Wahl that I’ve seen floating around homocomix and some other blogs:

Who knew Shaggy could be filthy but kind of hot?
My buddy Billy Mecca, who I wrote about back in May, is running a new tumblr blog, The Summer Diary Project:

SUMMER DIARY and other stories…
Summer Diary is a stylish and provocative collection of images and ‘stories’ – scenes from lives and dreams told thru photographic narrative, essays, illustration, journals, and multimedia presentation.

That’s it for today. More to come some time this week.

This song is infectious and funny and I thought I would share it with you this morning.
